The Celine Chair from Four Hands is a wide, low, armless lounge chair with the kind of seat you settle into rather than perch on. A fixed seat cushion and back cushion, both finished with welted edges, sit on a wooden platform frame built with mortise-and-tenon and corner-block joinery. The cushions are foam wrapped in polyester batting, and the upholstery comes in olive chenille woven from recycled materials or in taupe shearling. Slim tapered legs in solid oak or ash lift the whole shape off the floor.
The silhouette is soft and rounded, with welting that traces the seat and back like piping on a favorite jacket. Those slender legs borrow from mid-century furniture and keep the generous upholstery from feeling heavy. The olive version reads earthy and calm, while the shearling leans toward 1970s texture. Both sit comfortably next to walnut tables, brass lamps, and wool rugs.
Without arms, the Celine pulls up close to a coffee table or tucks into a corner without taking over the room. It suits a reading spot by a window, a pair facing a sofa, or a bedroom corner where clothes tend to pile up. Vacuum or brush it lightly and skip the cleaning products.
