The Huxley Dining Table from Four Hands is a long rectangle set on a double pedestal base, built to anchor a room rather than blend into it. The top is thick oak veneer over a solid oak frame, with a generous overhang so chairs tuck in easily and there is room to lean on an elbow. Leg levelers sit under each base to keep the table steady on older floors.
Each pedestal is a pair of angled panels split by a round cylinder, which gives the base a geometric, almost architectural profile under the plain top. It comes in a smoked black finish that lets the oak grain read as shadow, or a rubbed light oak that stays pale and warm. Aged brass, heavy ceramics, rattan and leather seating all sit comfortably against either one.
Huxley suits a dining room where people linger, with open space between the two bases and a long run of seating on each side. Set it with linen runners and a low bowl of fruit on weeknights, then clear it for a long dinner with a full table. In a larger open plan, it also works as a shared worktable for projects that need room to spread out.
