Vernon Dining Table

Vernon Dining Table

The Vernon Dining Table from Four Hands is a solid concrete pedestal table with a round top and a high-gloss red finish. A single broad base carries a slim, smooth disc, and the surface is polished to a sheen you more often see on lacquer than on cast mineral. It is bistro-scale and dense, so it stays where you put it, and leg levelers under the base help it sit steady on uneven floors.

The look is retro in the best café sense: a diner counter, a corner table in a small Parisian bistro, a record sleeve from 1965. Concrete keeps the red from going sweet, and the round top softens the weight of the material. It pairs well with bentwood chairs, chrome or black metal stools, checked floors, or a wall painted a deep green or ink blue.

Put it in a breakfast nook, a small kitchen, an apartment dining room, or a sunroom where two people want a proper table for coffee and long dinners. It also works in an entry or a corner of the living room as a place to spread out a puzzle or a game of cards. Each table is cast, so slight variation in the finish is part of the material.
