The Abaso Bench from Four Hands is a long, low, armless seat built from thick-cut oak veneer over a wooden platform and set on chunky squared legs. The finish is made to evoke wormwood, the weathered oak with open grain and tracked markings found in old barn timbers, so the grain and tone vary from one bench to the next. Dovetail joinery detailing marks the top, and leg levelers under the feet keep it steady on uneven floors.
The lines are Parsons lines: straight legs that run flush with the top, no arms, no back, nothing added for show. That plainness lets the grain do the work. It comes in a natural oak tone, a dark ebony stain, and a whitewash, in two lengths, and it sits easily against plaster walls, linen, leather, and blackened iron.
Use it at the foot of a bed, under a front window, or along an entry wall where people sit to pull on boots. It seats three, so it also works along one side of a dining table or in front of a sofa with a stack of books and a tray on top.
