ABILENE DINING CHAIR

Abilene Dining Chair

The Abilene is an armless side chair that keeps the bones of a traditional wooden dining chair and softens everything above the seat. Four Hands builds it on solid oak legs that taper toward the floor, with mortise-and-tenon and corner-block joinery, a webbed seat, and a foam pad wrapped in polyester fiber. The seat and the arched back are upholstered and fixed in place, with cover options that run from performance polyester to cotton blends to top grain leather.

The legs carry the heritage, and the low, open, curved back brings it up to date. Oak finishes move from light and warm to deeper brown, and the upholstery ranges from off-white through ochre to saddle-colored leather, so the same frame can read quiet or warm depending on the cover. It sits easily beside a pedestal or trestle table, plaster or painted walls, and a mix of older wood pieces.

Pull up a set around the dining table, or use a single chair at a desk, in an entry, or in a bedroom corner where a seat is useful. The seat is firm and supportive enough for a long dinner, and the fixed cushions mean there is nothing to shift or reposition. Leather covers can be wiped down with a light brush, while the fabric covers suit households that want a lighter chair in daily rotation.
