The Aida End Table from Four Hands is a round pedestal table made from petrified wood, a fossilized timber in which minerals have replaced the original fibers over millions of years. A thick, solid top sits on a narrower pedestal base, so the surface overhangs the foot with a sculptural, mushroom-like profile. Each piece comes from a different log, which means grain, banding and tone shift from one table to the next.
The color is a pale, sandy tan, with the growth rings and cracks of the original tree preserved in stone. It reads as earthen and quiet, a natural fit beside bouclé upholstery, travertine, linen, aged brass or dark walnut. It is part of the Aida suite from Four Hands, and it holds its own as a single object without needing a matching set.
Set it beside a sofa or lounge chair and it becomes the place for a lamp, a stack of books and a glass at the end of the day. It also works in an entry or at the foot of a bed, anywhere a small table can act as a sculptural accent. The piece is substantial and arrives ready to use, so choose its spot with some care, since it will not be moved often.
