ALFIE DINING TABLE

Alfie Dining Table

The Alfie Dining Table from Four Hands is a long oval trestle table in solid pine, weathered for a distressed surface and finished in a warm honey tone. The top rests on tapered legs joined with mortise and tenon joinery, with a stretcher and apron below that give it a sturdy, traditional profile. It comes in two lengths, both generous, and the grain, knots, and wear marks vary from one table to the next.

The design draws on the farm tables and refectory tables of rural Europe, where a plain wooden top and a low stretcher were all the structure a table needed. The oval shape softens that heritage and keeps the corners out of the way when people are seated close. Honey-toned pine sits easily next to cane-back chairs, woven pendants, linen runners, and the darker woods of an older sideboard.

Set it in a dining room where the table is the center of the evening, with room around it for chairs to pull out and for people to pass behind them. The distressed finish forgives daily use, so it can handle homework, long dinners, and a stack of mail at the end of the table. Chairs are sold separately, which leaves you free to mix benches, upholstered seats, or a collection of mismatched finds.
