The Amare Dining Armchair from Four Hands is a slim, open-framed chair built from solid ash, with a seat that gives the wood room to be the main event. The frame is joined with mortise and tenon and reinforced with corner blocks, and a wooden platform under a foam and fiber pad carries the upholstery. Most versions are covered in top-grain leather, and one is covered in a cream linen-blend fabric. The arms are narrow and set low, so the chair pulls in close to a table.
The shapely frame follows Scandinavian dining chair tradition, where a curved back and tapered round legs do the work that ornament does elsewhere. The leather versions in tan, brown, and black take on a softer look with use, while the cream fabric brings a lighter, quieter surface against the ash. It sits easily beside oak and walnut tables, stone tops, and painted plaster walls.
Use it around a dining table, at the head and foot for a pair of armchairs, or pulled up to a desk where a full upholstered chair would feel heavy. The plastic glides on the feet suit hard floors and low rugs, and the open frame keeps a small room from feeling crowded. Mix finishes around one table if you like, since the ash frame ties them together.
