The Astrud is an armless side chair from Four Hands, defined by a sculpted, scalloped back that curves like a fan behind the sitter. The seat and back are upholstered over foam and fiber batting on a webbed base, and the whole body rests on a slim iron tube frame finished in brushed slate. It comes in a range of covers, from performance polyester and boucle-like weaves to faux leather and top-grain leather, so the same silhouette can read soft, textural, or sleek.
The shape borrows from Art Deco, where fan and shell motifs turned up on everything from theater seats to cocktail lounges. The thin metal frame keeps the chair visually light, and the brushed slate finish stays quiet against every cover, whether it is pewter, snow, olive, butterscotch, or camel. It sits comfortably beside wood, stone, or glass tables and holds its own against bolder pieces in a mixed room.
Pull a few up to a dining table, where the armless profile lets each one tuck in close. A single chair also works at a desk, a vanity, or in an entry corner. The performance fabrics are made for everyday meals, and the leather covers will soften and take on character with regular use.
