A solid oak console from Four Hands that carries real weight in both senses. The rectangular top is thick and deep-toned, and it rests on a capsule-shaped base built from solid oak and thick oak veneer, finished in a rich brown that lets the grain show through. A hollow arch is cut through the base, so the mass of the piece opens up where you least expect it.
The Bevie suite plays with contrast: a plain, straight-edged top against a rounded, sculptural pedestal. The arch gives the base a quiet architectural reference, something like a doorway or a bridge in miniature. The warm brown oak sits easily next to plaster walls, woven textures, ceramics with a matte glaze, and brass or black metal lamps.
The slim top and open arch suit a narrow wall, and leveling feet on the base keep it steady on uneven floors. Use it behind a sofa, in an entry for keys and a bowl, or along a hallway with a lamp and a stack of books. It has no drawers or doors, so the surface and the open arch do the work, and the top is rated to hold a substantial load of objects.
