The Blinn Extension Dining Table from Four Hands is a trestle-style table built on a turned, tapered base of solid oak, topped with a rectangular slab of oak veneer. The frame is joined with mortise and tenon, and the top carries a warm, worn finish that reads as old wood rather than new. Breadboard extensions at each end attach with the screws that ship in the box, so the table runs longer when the guest list does.
The turned legs and breadboard ends borrow from farmhouse and refectory tables, the long-standing kind that anchor a room and get better with use. The pale, softened oak sits easily with woven seating, black iron lighting, and rugs with some age on them. It also holds its own against bolder chairs, whether you lean toward bentwood, upholstered, or something painted.
Keep it at its shorter length for weeknight dinners, homework, and laying out a puzzle. Add the extensions for holiday meals, long Sunday suppers, or any evening that needs room for a full table of people. Chairs are sold separately.
