The Brodie Chair from Four Hands is a low, rounded lounge chair built on a solid oak frame and upholstered in soft, textural fabric. The arms curve gently downward and the body sits deep and wide, with a fixed seat and back cushion over foam and fiber batting on an S-spring base. The frame is joined with mortise and tenon, butt joints, and nails, which gives a chair this plush a sturdy core.
It is a cozy update to 1970s seating, with a bulky, tapered profile and a pile-and-weave surface that nods to Mongolian shearling. The oak legs show in tones from pale to warm, so each finish reads a little differently, from toasty tan and mushroom to granite grey and cocoa. It pairs well with boucle, rattan, aged brass, and low-slung wood tables, and it holds its own beside more graphic pieces.
Set one by a window with a reading lamp, or place a pair across a coffee table for a conversation corner. It suits a living room, a bedroom corner, or a study where a heavier desk chair has worn out its welcome. The seat is roomy enough to curl up in with a book or a blanket.
