The Burkhart is a side chair from Four Hands built on a solid drifted oak frame, with a seat back that tapers gently toward the top. The back legs curve upward and run into the cushioned backrest, so frame and back read as one continuous line. Under the seat, a reeded apron adds a ribbed, vertical texture, and the seat itself rests on webbing with a fixed cushion. It comes upholstered in top-grain leather or in a woven blend of polyester, acrylic and linen.
The Baroque references here are held back and translated into shape: the reeding, the curve of the back leg, the slight swell of the backrest. Drifted oak has a pale, weathered tone that keeps the chair light against darker tables and floors. The leather version deepens to a cigar brown that tends to soften with use, and the oatmeal fabric is a quieter, more textural choice. Either one sits comfortably with plaster walls, stone, brass lamps and a wood table with some age on it.
The chair is armless, so it slides fully under a table and can serve as a dining seat, a desk chair, or an extra seat pulled into a hallway or bedroom when needed. A set of mixed upholstery, leather at the ends and fabric along the sides, is an easy way to give a dining room a little variation. Vacuum or brush the upholstery lightly and leave the cleaning products on the shelf.
