The Calvo Bistro Table from Four Hands is a small dining table built entirely on angles. An oak veneer frame, edge-banded and mitered at the corners, holds a top of solid brown marble, with each chamfered side pulling back toward a tapered square post. The base repeats the outline of the top, so the table reads as one faceted shape from above and from the floor. Marble is cut from nature, so veining and tone vary from table to table.
The warm amber of the oak sets off the deep brown stone, and the octagon-like silhouette keeps a compact table from feeling like an afterthought. It belongs to Four Hands' Calvo suite, where geometry does the decorative work and the materials stay quiet. Pair it with caned or leather-seated chairs, a brass pendant overhead, or a pair of low-slung lounge chairs if you want it to work as a side table for a big room.
Set it in a breakfast nook, a kitchen corner, or a small dining room where a full-sized table would crowd the floor. It seats two comfortably, and the pedestal base leaves knee room on every side. Protective levelers under the foot let you adjust it on older floors, and the stone top has enough weight to stay where you put it.
