The Caspian is a low, rectangular coffee table from Four Hands built on restraint. The top is resawn ash veneer with clipped, chamfered corners that soften the edge without adding ornament, and the boxed base sits close to the floor. An open shelf runs beneath the top, and leg levelers keep the whole piece steady on older floors. Ash grain varies from table to table, so figure and tone will differ a little from the one you see in photos.
The look sits in the organic modern and Scandinavian camp, with the plain geometry and warm wood you find in Japanese-leaning interiors. The light natural finish shows off the open grain, while the black finish turns that same grain into a quiet graphic texture. Either one pairs well with bouclé or linen upholstery, stoneware bowls, and a brass or black iron lamp.
Set it in front of a sofa and it becomes the center of the room. The broad top takes a tray, a stack of books, and a vase of stems at once, with room left for coffee cups or a board game. Magazines, woven baskets, or a folded throw can live on the shelf below, which keeps the surface clear for company.
