A push-back recliner from Four Hands that keeps the look of a club chair and hides the mechanism well. The upholstery is top-grain leather in a deep, cigar-toned brown, with the grain, creasing and shading that come from real hide. Underneath is a solid parawood frame joined with corner blocks and cleats, an S-spring seat, and a fill of foam and polyester fiber with a small measure of feather for softness. Every chair reads a little differently, and that variation is the leather doing what it should.
The silhouette borrows from traditional English club chairs, with a gently curved frame, a low arm and short tapered legs, then adds angles that keep it from feeling like a reproduction. The leather will darken and soften with use, so it ages toward the lived-in look that vintage club chairs are known for. It sits comfortably beside walnut and oak, plaster-toned walls, brass lamps and a patterned rug.
Use it as the chair by the window, the corner seat in a den, or a single-person reading spot in the living room. The recliner opens with a push of the back, so there is no lever or power cord to plan around. Leave some space behind it for the full recline. Keep it out of direct sun and away from radiators so the leather ages evenly.
