Dane Dining Chair

Dane Dining Chair

The Dane is a dining armchair from Four Hands that borrows the relaxed posture of a safari campaign chair and builds it for everyday use. The frame is solid oak in a warm brown finish, joined with mortise and tenon and reinforced with corner blocks. Webbing under a loose foam-and-fiber cushion gives the seat a supported, sink-in feel, and leather-look strap details run across the upholstered back. It comes in an olive flax and linen blend or in top-grain leather.

Safari furniture has a long habit of pairing plain wood with canvas, leather and straps, and the Dane keeps that vocabulary while smoothing out the silhouette. The curved back and slim arms read more modern than expedition, so it sits comfortably next to a pedestal table, a farmhouse plank or a lacquered one. The olive linen suits layered neutrals and plants. The leather leans toward darker rooms and brass.

Pull a set up to the dining table and the arms make it a chair people stay in after the plates are cleared. A single one also works at the end of a long table, beside a desk, or in a corner where a reading chair is needed but a lounge chair would crowd the room. Natural fiber and leather both show variation from piece to piece, and both settle into a lived-in look over time.
