A round dining table from Four Hands, built to anchor a room without calling attention to itself. The top is a grey-finished oak veneer with a thick, clean edge, and it rests on a steel base of four plinth legs gathered toward the center rather than pushed out to the perimeter. The frame is joined with mortise and tenon, and the top is assembled with tongue and groove, so the table is made to hold its shape through years of dinners.
The design takes its cue from minimalist Nordic furniture. You get one plain shape, a cool grey wash that lets the oak grain show through, and no ornament beyond the proportions of the base. Because the legs sit in the middle, chairs pull in close all the way around and there are no corners to negotiate. It pairs well with woven or leather chairs, a linen runner, or a mix of mismatched vintage seating set against a quiet surface.
The table seats six, which suits a dining room, a roomy eat-in kitchen, or an open living area where one table handles dinner parties, homework, and puzzle nights. A round top keeps conversation moving across the whole group. Set it where daylight crosses the surface and the grey finish will shift from soft to deep as the hours pass.
