The Esther Dining Chair from Four Hands is an armless side chair with a solid oak frame and fixed, upholstered seat and back cushions. Both cushions are foam wrapped in polyester batting, set over a webbed seat, and covered in a woven performance fabric made to take spills and daily use. The frame is joined with mortise and tenon, corner blocks and screwed pocket joints, a sturdy build for a chair that gets pulled in and out several times a day.
The silhouette follows the traditional armless dining chair, simplified so that the oak frame reads as a clean outline around soft cushions. The upholstery comes in muted, tailored tones of taupe, flint gray and mink, and the wood finish shifts from pale and drifted to warmer oak depending on the variant. It sits comfortably beside a pedestal table, a plaster or limewashed wall, or a room full of pattern where it can act as the quiet one.
Pull a set up to a dining table, tuck a pair along a kitchen island, or use a single chair at a desk or in an entry. The performance fabric makes it a reasonable choice for households with children and red wine, and the armless shape slides in close to the table or leaves room for a crowd when you add a leaf.
