The Fabian Dining Chair from Four Hands is an armless side chair with an angled, wrapped frame in smoked black oak. The seat and fixed back cushion are covered in a deep chocolate blend of wool, polyester and cotton with a velvety hand. Both are padded with polyurethane foam over a webbed seat base. The solid oak frame uses frame and panel joinery and stands on leg levelers, so it sits steady on older floors.
The back curves around the sitter in a low, cradling sweep, and the legs taper and splay at an angle that keeps the chair from looking square-on from any side. Dark oak and chocolate upholstery make a moody, low-lit pairing that suits walnut and lacquered tables, aged brass, plaster walls and deep paint colors. It belongs to the Fabian suite, which Four Hands built around the same angled geometry. Oak grain and tone vary from chair to chair.
Set a full run of them around a dining table, or use a pair at a writing desk or the end of a long console. The seat is cushioned enough for a long dinner, and the compact footprint tucks in close to the table. The upholstery needs only a vacuum or a light brush to stay in shape.
