Fischersund candles are hand-poured into hand-blown glass vessels and produced in Reykjavík, Iceland, by a family-run studio founded by Jónsi (of Sigur Rós) and his family. Each numbered scent in the line is developed in-house and corresponds to a specific olfactory reference point — harbor air, lava fields, moss, smoke — drawn from the Icelandic landscape and the family's personal history. The wax is a paraffin-soy blend and the glass container, once the candle is spent, is worth keeping.
The Fischersund aesthetic is spare and material-focused: the vessel is clear, the label minimal, and the scent does the heavy lifting. The studio's approach to fragrance sits closer to perfumery than to home goods — layered compositions with genuine topnotes, midnotes, and base notes rather than a single ambient impression. The numbered variants are distinct scent profiles, not colorways or sizes, so choosing among them is a matter of preference, not decoration.
This is a candle suited to a room you actually spend time in — a study, a living room with books in it, a bedroom in the colder months. Burn time is typically 40–50 hours. Trim the wick to 3–5mm before each use, allow a full melt pool to form on the first burn (up to two hours), and set it only on a level, heat-resistant surface. The glass retains heat; handle with care while lit.
