Hawkins Dining Chair

The Hawkins is a sculpted arm chair from Four Hands, built on a poplar plywood frame with an open, contoured profile. The seat is webbed and padded with polyurethane foam wrapped in polyester fiber batting, and the frame is joined with mortise and tenon and reinforced corner blocks. It comes upholstered in top-grain leather or in woven and bouclé fabrics, so the chair reads differently depending on the cover you choose. Leather covers carry natural grain variation from hide to hide.

The back curves around the sitter and drops into low, slim arms, a shape that sits between modern and transitional without leaning hard on either. Leather versions look warm and a little tailored, while the fabric versions soften the lines and lean toward texture. It pairs well with a solid wood or stone table, and it holds its own next to more traditional pieces.

Set a run of them around the dining table, or use a single one as an accent chair in a corner of the living room, a bedroom, or a study. The arms make it a comfortable place to stay seated after the plates are cleared. Vacuum or brush lightly to keep the upholstery fresh.
