An angular accent bench from Four Hands, built from solid mindi wood and woven natural sugar palm. The frame is split into separate panels, which lets a long, low piece read open and light instead of heavy. The seat is a wooden platform with a woven surface, and the frame is joined with mortise and tenon, miter, and bore and dowel construction. It seats two and sits on plastic glides that protect the floor underneath.
The Heather suite pairs the warm brown grain of mindi with the pale, tightly woven texture of sugar palm. The silhouette is strictly rectilinear, so the surface texture does the talking. It sits comfortably with organic modern rooms, Japandi restraint, and mid-century pieces, and it holds its own next to heavier upholstery or a rug with pattern.
Set it at the foot of a bed, under a front window, or along a hallway wall where you want a place to sit and pull on shoes. In a living room it works as a low companion to a sofa, with a stack of books or a tray of objects on the seat. The open base leaves floor visible beneath it, which helps in smaller entries and bedrooms.
