The Hugo End Table from Four Hands is a minimalist frame of solid concrete with a slim iron shelf that seems to float between its sides. Concrete is a material usually kept outdoors, and here it is refined for the living room. The piece is heavy and planted, and it rests on leg levelers so it can settle evenly on an older floor. Small pores and slight surface variations are part of how concrete looks, so no two tables read exactly alike.
The Parsons-style frame keeps the lines square and plain, which gives the table an industrial lean without any fuss. It comes from Four Hands' Everett collection, where concrete, iron and walnut are finished with a distressed, tactile surface. The cool, matte stone sits well against warm woods, aged brass, nubby bouclé and worn leather.
Set it beside a sofa as a lamp table, or at the side of a bed where the open shelf can hold a stack of books or a woven basket. The top is deep enough for a lamp and a glass, and the shelf keeps the clutter out of sight line. It also works in an entry or a reading corner, anywhere a small, solid surface is useful.
