The Huxley Console Table from Four Hands is a long, open-framed table built from thick oak veneer and solid oak. The top is a slab with a deep overhang at each end, and it rests on angled panel legs that give the base its architectural lean. Nothing is hidden behind doors or drawers, so the whole form reads as one clean line.
The Huxley takes its cue from mid-century case goods and modern workshop furniture, trimmed down to flat planes and sharp angles. It comes in two finishes, a smoked black that brings out the grain in the oak and a rubbed light oak that keeps the wood pale and warm. Either one pairs well with rounded lamps, ceramic vessels and framed art that soften the straight edges.
Set it behind a sofa, along a hallway wall or in an entry where you need a landing spot for keys, mail and a bowl of fruit. The open space beneath has room for baskets, stacked books or a pair of stools. It ships in two boxes and has leg levelers, so it sits steady on uneven floors.
