The Ingrid Coffee Table from Four Hands is a nesting pair of soft-edged, organic-shaped tables, with a solid marble top set over a base of pale oak. The top is cut from solid stone rather than a thin facing, so the table has real heft on the floor. Beneath it, the base is solid oak and thick oak veneer in a drifted, sun-bleached finish, and leg levelers let it settle evenly on older floorboards.
The shapes are loose and pebble-like, with no hard corners and a low profile that keeps sightlines open. The marble comes in a coffee-brown or a cooler warm grey, and each slab carries its own veining, so no two tops read exactly alike. The warmth of the stone against the blond wood sits comfortably beside bouclé and linen sofas, wool rugs, plaster walls and darker leather.
Set it in front of a sofa as a single anchoring piece, or slide the two tables apart to serve as separate surfaces for drinks, a stack of books and a bowl of fruit. Marble is cool and porous, so coasters and a quick wipe after spills will keep the top looking its best. It is a substantial table, best placed once and left to settle into the room.
