The Jillian Dining Chair from Four Hands is an armless side chair in a single tonal palette, with a solid oak frame holding a top-grain leather seat and back. The back has a slightly barreled shape that curves to meet your spine. Underneath, the frame is joined with mortise and tenon, corner blocks, and screwed pocket joints, and the seat rests on webbing.
Light brown leather against warm oak keeps the whole chair in one family of tones, so it reads quiet and a little midcentury without leaning on any one era. The legs are slim and square, which leaves the leather to do the talking. Top-grain hides carry their own grain and small markings, and each chair will differ slightly from the next. It sits comfortably beside oak and walnut tables, plaster walls, and stone or woven rugs.
Pull a set of them up to a dining table, or use a single one at a desk, in an entry, or at the foot of a bed. The leather softens and takes on character with years of use. Keep it clear of direct heat and dust it with a vacuum or soft brush as needed.
