A round pedestal dining table from Four Hands, topped with a solid slab of merlot marble. The stone runs deep red, and its veining shifts from pale to near-black across the surface, so no two tops read quite the same. The base is built from lathed, CNC-turned marble pieces stacked on a steel pipe running through the center, which carries the weight of the top.
The design draws on French Industrialist furniture, where heavy, workmanlike materials are shaped into something sculptural. This table comes from the brand's thirtieth anniversary capsule, and the stacked base reads like a column or a bistro leg enlarged for the dining room. It pairs well with bentwood or cane chairs, aged brass, plaster walls, and linen in warm neutrals.
A single pedestal leaves the edge clear, so four people can pull in chairs without working around legs. Use it in a dining room, a breakfast nook, or a wide entry where the table can stand alone as a piece of furniture. Felt pads under the base protect floors, and the marble is substantial, so choose its spot before it is carried in.
