A round pedestal dining table from Four Hands, built from solid mango wood and finished in a deep dark oak stain. The top is thick and rounded at the edge, and it rests on a turned pedestal that swells into a globe before stepping down to a wide, stable foot. The whole table is wire-brushed, so the grain reads under the stain and the surface has a little tooth to it. Mango wood varies from board to board, and the figure and tone of each table will differ slightly.
The Magnolia suite borrows from farmhouse tables, with the single turned column and the soft circular top, then darkens the palette so it sits comfortably in a traditional room as easily as an eclectic one. The ripple of the stepped base gives the table a sculptural look from every side, which matters when there is no hiding a round table in the middle of a room. It pairs well with chairs that have tall backs or curved detailing, and with a runner or a low bowl of seasonal branches.
With no corner legs, chairs pull in from any angle and the table seats a full household without anyone claiming a side. It suits a dining room, a wide kitchen, or an entry hall that needs a substantial center table. Wipe up spills promptly and keep it indoors, as the finish and solid wood are made for interior use.
