A demilune console from Four Hands that sets a slim iron top on a sculpted base of mirrored oak veneer legs. The legs curve toward one another beneath the top and form a single sweeping silhouette, a long way from a conventional set of straight posts. The iron has a burnished coffee finish and the veneer is stained a deep espresso, so the two materials read as one dark, warm tone. An anti-tip kit is included for securing it to the wall.
The mixed-material pairing and the bowed profile come from the sculptural side of modern furniture, where a single curve does the work of ornament. Dark iron and stained oak sit comfortably with brass lamps, glazed ceramics, plaster vessels and large-scale art, and they give a pale wall something to push against. The shallow, rounded top keeps the table light on its feet even at length.
Use it in an entry for keys and mail, behind a sofa as a place for lamps and books, or along a hallway where a deeper table would crowd the walkway. It comes in two lengths, with the shorter suited to tighter walls. The top is open underneath, so a pair of baskets or a low stack of books can tuck beneath it.
