A round end table from Four Hands, built from solid reclaimed oak with a top that seems to float above its base. A cutout opens the lower section into an open shelf, which keeps the form from feeling heavy. The frame is joined with tongue and groove construction, and leg levelers underneath let it settle on an uneven floor.
Because the oak is reclaimed, grain, knots and tone move from piece to piece, and no two tables read exactly alike. It comes in a natural oak finish and a grey one that mutes the warmth and lets the grain do the talking. The silhouette is soft and sculptural, closer to organic modern than rustic, and it sits comfortably next to bouclé, linen, plaster and aged brass.
Set it beside a sofa or lounge chair for a lamp and a drink, with books or a woven basket on the shelf below. It also works as a bedside table where you want a rounded edge instead of a corner, or in an entry holding a bowl for keys.
