The Mitchell Accent Bench from Four Hands is a long, low upholstered bench with sides that fold up into short, flat arms. The frame is built from eucalyptus plywood with corner-block joinery, and the whole piece is wrapped in a cotton and polyester performance fabric in a warm camel tone. The seat is a single boxed cushion over S-spring construction, filled with foam, fiber and duck feathers, with a removable casing and a reversible design so it wears evenly.
Two round bolster pillows sit at either end and give the flat seat a soft edge. The folded sides read as sculptural from every angle, which makes the bench look finished whether it sits against a wall or floats in a room. Camel is a flexible neutral, and it pairs well with dark wood, brass, boucle, rust and deep green.
Place it at the foot of a bed, along an entry wall, or under a window in a living room where it can handle extra guests. The fabric is made to resist spills and wear, and a vacuum or light brush is all it needs. It seats a few people at once, and its substantial weight keeps it planted.
