The Salado from Four Hands is a panel bed with a tall headboard and a low footboard, built on a solid wood frame and faced with top-grain leather. The hides come from a family-owned tannery in Bassano del Grappa, Italy, and are salvaged from upcycled stock, so scars, grain marks and shifts in color stay visible across every panel. The frame is kiln-dried solid ash or oak depending on the finish, and a slatted base means no box spring is needed.
The look is safari-inspired, closer to campaign furniture and a well-worn saddle than to a standard upholstered headboard. Leather finishes range from deep cigar brown to a warm sienna to a pale sandy nude, and one version swaps the leather for a woven linen-blend in natural oatmeal with a worn oak frame. It pairs easily with wool and linen bedding, brass lamps, a flatweave or kilim underfoot, and walls painted in earthy tones.
Plan on a bed that changes as you live with it. The leather softens and lightens with use and builds a patina, and no two panels read quite alike. It anchors a bedroom as the main piece, with room beside it for a pair of simple nightstands and a bench or blanket chest at the foot. Some assembly is required.
