A round marble-topped end table from Four Hands, built on a tulip-shaped base of hammered aged brass over iron. The top is solid fossil marble with a bullnose edge, rounded and smooth under the hand, and it sits with a generous overhang past the base. Small spheres studded along the pedestal give the metalwork a bit of play. Marble is a natural stone, so veining and tone vary from one table to the next.
The hammered brass has a warm, worn-in patina that reads as collected rather than new, and the pale fossil stone keeps it from feeling heavy. The silhouette borrows from mid-century pedestal tables and the curved forms of Hollywood Regency, with a more modern restraint in the finish. It sits comfortably beside leather, bouclé, velvet, or a rattan chair, and it holds its own next to darker woods.
Place it at the arm of a sofa for a lamp, a drink, and a stack of books, or use it as a small bedside table in a room that wants some weight. The stone surface is cool and sturdy, so it works as a spot for a vase of cut stems or a candle. In a corner of the entry, it can hold a tray for keys.
