The Talos Extension Dining Table from Four Hands is a long rectangular table in rich brown parawood, held up by a curved pedestal base in place of four corner legs. The top is parawood veneer over solid parawood, finished with bullnose edges and softened corners that sit comfortably under a forearm through a long dinner. Two insert leaves lengthen the table when a meal outgrows its usual size, and the open space beneath the top leaves room for knees at every seat.
The tapered, curvilinear base gives the table a sculptural look, closer to a piece of furniture you walk around than a plain slab on legs. The warm brown wood grain reads as relaxed and a little modern, which suits upholstered chairs, a bench along one side, or a mix of mismatched seating. Linen runners, ceramic serving pieces, and a few low candles show off the rounded edges without crowding them.
Use it as the anchor of a dining room that hosts often, closed down for weeknight meals and opened up for holidays and long dinners with a full table of guests. The pedestal base means no one is stuck straddling a leg at the corners. When the leaves are out of use, store them flat on their surface so they stay true.
