The Tamari Dining Chair from Four Hands is an armless side chair built on a solid ash frame, with a low, softly padded seat and a short fixed back cushion that leaves the open frame visible behind it. The frame is joined with mortise and tenon and reinforced with corner blocks, and the seat rides on webbing under foam and fiber batting. It comes covered in a linen-blend, top-grain leather, or a smooth polyester weave, and each cover is paired with its own ash finish, from pale and bright to a warmer almond tone. Grain and finish vary a little from chair to chair, as they do with any solid wood.
The look is light, quiet, and Scandinavian-leaning, with the kind of pale ash that sits comfortably beside oak, walnut, or a painted table. The linen-blend version reads soft and textural, the leather reads richer and deepens with use, and the polyester version stays clean-lined and easy. A set of six in one cover looks calm and tailored, while a mix of two covers around the same table gives the room a more collected feel.
Use it at a dining table that sees breakfast, homework, and long dinners, or pull one up to a desk or a kitchen island. The fabric covers are made to handle spills and daily wear, and a quick pass with a steamer keeps the upholstery crisp. The compact footprint tucks in close to the table, which helps in smaller dining rooms and eat-in kitchens.
