A low, round coffee table from Four Hands, built on a chunky pedestal base of thick-cut oak. The base combines solid oak with thick oak veneer and is finished in a rustic grey or a smoked black that lets the grain show through. Some versions are topped with solid white Italian marble, cool to the touch and marked with soft natural veining, while the all-oak versions carry the same wood from top to base.
Toli was designed with Thomas Bina, a longtime Four Hands collaborator, and Brazilian designer Ronald Sasson. The triangulating base keeps the profile open and light for a piece this substantial, and the rounded top softens the edges of a room full of sofas and rectangles. The pairing of heavy stone and weathered wood reads rustic and modern at once, and every marble top carries its own pattern of veining.
Set it in front of a sofa, or between a pair of lounge chairs, and it becomes the center of the living room. The wide top holds a stack of books, a low bowl of fruit, and a tray of drinks without crowding. Leveling feet under the base help it sit steady on older floors.
