The Vista dining chair from Four Hands is a tall, softly curved side chair dressed in a flax and linen slipcover the color of red wine. A burgundy top-grain leather detail marks the cover, and a draped skirt falls below the seat and sways a little when the chair is pulled out. Underneath, a solid alder frame is joined with mortise and tenon and bore and dowel construction, with a webbed seat and a foam and polyester fiber pad for support.
This piece comes from the Four Hands 30th Anniversary Capsule, and the two-tone treatment is what sets it apart from the usual slipcovered dining chair. The relaxed, tailored-sheet silhouette reads traditional, while the bordeaux cover and leather accent push it somewhere moodier. It looks good against a high-gloss black table, a pale oak top, or a plaster wall in a warm neutral.
Armless and sized as a side chair, it suits a full set around a dining table or a single place at a desk, a vanity, or the end of a long table. Plastic glides under the legs protect hard floors. The slipcover design gives you a fabric that can be cared for on its own terms, and the leather will soften and darken with use.
