The Zeke Coffee Table from Four Hands is a round, low-slung piece that reads as sculpture first and furniture second. Ash veneer, solid nettlewood and solid warm grey marble are combined in a single form, with a pillar base holding up a bowl-shaped top. The proportions are broad and substantial, and the marble gives the table real weight in the room.
The design leans postmodern, with chunky geometry, a mix of grain and stone, and a palette of cocoa browns against soft grey. It sits comfortably beside curved bouclé seating, a shaggy wool rug or a plaster lamp, and it holds its own next to more traditional pieces too. Because the materials are natural, the veining in the marble and the grain in the wood will vary from table to table.
Set it at the center of a living room where it can be walked around, and let the bowl-shaped top hold a stack of art books, a low arrangement or a tray of drinks. It makes a strong anchor in front of a sofa or between two lounge chairs. The plastic glides underneath protect the floor when the table is moved.
