Benicio Chair

Benicio Chair

The Benicio Chair from Four Hands is an armless lounge chair with a low, sculptural profile, wrapped in top-grain leather in a deep tobacco brown. A curved oak panel finishes the back and solid oak feet keep the body close to the floor. The seat and back are tight and fixed, which gives the chair a tailored line, and subtle shaping in the frame makes the outline shift as you walk around it.

It was designed with Thomas Bina, a longtime Four Hands collaborator, and Brazilian designer Ronald Sasson, and you can see that lineage in the pairing of leather and oak, a combination with deep roots in Brazilian and midcentury seating. The form stays restrained, so the warmth comes from the hide and the grain of the wood rather than from ornament. It sits comfortably next to travertine, plaster, boucle, and darker timbers.

Use it as a single sculptural seat by a window, a pair facing a sofa, or an extra chair that closes up a conversation corner. With no arms, it tucks into tight spots and reads well from every side, so it can float in the room instead of sitting against a wall. Leather develops a softer surface and more character with use, and regular vacuuming or a light brush is all the upkeep it asks for.
