The Berksha Accent Bench from Four Hands is a long, low, fully upholstered seat with a plain rectangular profile and a woven cover that shows its texture up close. The fabric is a blend of polyester, viscose and flax, stretched over a wooden platform and topped with a boxed seat cushion filled with foam, feathers and fiber. Square block legs lift the body off the floor and leave a clean band of shadow underneath.

The silhouette is architectural and deliberately restrained, closer to a slab than a settee. It comes in two colorways, a warm rust and a deep indigo, and both read as a solid block of color that lets the shape do the work. Pair it with a patterned rug, a lacquered console or a wall of framed art, and it will hold its ground without competing.

Its length seats up to three people, so it earns its place at the foot of a bed, under a front window or along the wall of an entry. In a living room it can stand in for a coffee table side seat, and in a dining room it works as a banquette on one side of the table. The cover is cleaned with water-based products, which suits a piece that will see shoes being tied and bags set down.
