The Emeric Pendant from Four Hands is a wide coolie-shade pendant that borrows its logic from the pulley. The tapered shade is spun from aluminum and finished in burnished brass, and a pill-shaped counterweight in the same metal hangs on the cord to balance the fixture. Pull the cord and the shade glides up or down, so the light sits where you want it rather than where the ceiling dictates.
The coolie shape is an old one, familiar from workshops, markets and mid-century interiors, and the pulley detail gives it a working, almost nautical streak. Burnished brass reads warm and slightly aged instead of shiny, which lets it sit comfortably beside walnut, leather, plaster walls and unlacquered hardware. The shade is broad and shallow, so it throws a wide pool of light downward and makes a graphic shape overhead.
Hang it over a dining table, a kitchen island or a reading corner where you want the height to be adjustable. It is hardwired with no pipe, just cord, which suits tall ceilings and stairwells as well as standard rooms. The fixture takes a single bulb, works with a dimmer and is dry rated for indoor use.
