Eros Accent Bench

The Eros Accent Bench from Four Hands is a long, low seat built from one continuous cushion resting on solid oak supports. The cushion is a polyurethane foam pad wrapped in polyester batting, and it is upholstered in either top-grain leather or polyester depending on the version. The oak frame is joined with mortise and tenon and reinforced with pocket screws, so the bench holds its shape and carries a full row of sitters without complaint.

The design takes its cue from Nordic Minimalism: straight edges, a restrained palette, and no ornament beyond the grain of the wood. The oak finish runs from a weathered, lightened tone to a smoked black, and the leather version will soften and darken with use. Its proportions are substantial but visually quiet, which lets it sit comfortably beside both sculptural pieces and plainer furniture.

Set it at the foot of a bed, along a dining table in place of a row of chairs, or against an entry wall where shoes come on and off. It seats three, and it also works as a low surface for a stack of books or a folded throw. For upkeep, a vacuum or light brush is all the upholstery asks for.
