The Jazelle Accent Bench from Four Hands is a long, low seat built around two bolstered cylinders that serve as arms. The seat is top-grain leather in a deep brown, set over a solid ash frame finished in a warm tan and raised on slim, tapered legs. Inside, a foam pad with polyester batting gives the seat some give, and the frame is joined with mortise and tenon and corner blocks so it holds its shape under regular use. It seats three and arrives with plastic glides on the feet.
The proportions come straight from midcentury furniture, with a straight rectangular seat and open legs that keep the floor visible beneath it. The rolled cylinder arms are what make it playful, a soft, rounded counterpoint to the clean ash lines. Leather and pale wood is an easy pairing, and it sits well against plaster walls, patterned rugs, stacked books, or a bold piece of art hung above it.
Set it in an entryway for pulling on boots, at the foot of a bed for folded throws, or along a hallway wall as extra seating that does not crowd the room. In a living room it can stand behind a sofa or under a window. Top-grain leather develops character over time, so expect small variations in grain and tone from one bench to the next.
