A streamlined console from Four Hands, built around a solid top that cantilevers over a slightly angled base. The tables are made in solid reclaimed pine or thick oak veneer, with a heavy top slab and slim, sturdy legs. There are no doors or drawers, so the whole piece stays open and light, and the base sits on leveling feet for uneven floors.
Reclaimed pine carries the knots, grain shifts and tonal variation of its earlier life, which means no two tables look exactly alike. The oak veneer versions have edge-banded corners and a calmer, more even grain. Finishes run from pale and sandy to weathered grey and deep black, and each one reads as modern in form with a rustic undertone. The overhanging top gives the table a floating look that suits both clean-lined rooms and ones with more history in them.
The shallow depth makes it a good fit for an entry wall, a narrow hall or the back of a sofa, where it can hold a lamp, a stack of books and a bowl for keys. It also works as a low media console beneath a wall-mounted screen, with open space below for baskets or a row of boxes. Dust it occasionally with a soft, dry cloth and keep it out of standing moisture.
