The Tolle Bookcase from Four Hands is a tall, open-fronted oak case with a softly arched top and a deep, doorless interior. It is built from solid oak and oak veneer, with the frame joined by mortise and tenon, finger joints and corner blocks. Two removable shelves sit on adjustable pins, so the three open sections can be set up for tall art books, baskets or a row of paperbacks, and leg levelers keep the case steady on uneven floors.
The arch gives the piece its personality. It borrows from French cabinetry, with the glass front taken away, which leaves the silhouette clean and the shelves on view. The natural oak finish shows grain and a pale, sun-dried warmth, and the matte black version reads as graphic and architectural, with oak veneer visible in the interior. Both sit comfortably beside a mix of antiques, plaster lamps and linen upholstery.
Use it as a living room anchor flanking a fireplace or window, or against a long wall in a study where books, ceramics and framed prints can share the shelves. It stands on raised legs, so a vacuum or a stack of magazines can tuck underneath. The shelves are made for display, so the things you reach for daily and the objects you collect can live together at eye level.
