The Zeke End Table from Four Hands is a round side table that pairs a solid marble top with a sturdy wooden base. The top is warm grey marble, shaped like a shallow bowl with a recessed center. It rests on a bunched pillar base in solid nettlewood and ash veneer in a deep coco brown. The frame is joined with mortise and tenon construction, and plastic glides on the feet protect the floor.
The form comes from postmodern furniture, where clustered columns and simple geometry turn a small table into a sculptural object. The grey of the stone is soft and slightly cool, and it plays against the visible grain of the wood. Marble varies from slab to slab, so veining and tone will differ a little from one table to the next. It sits easily beside curved sofas, bouclé, lacquer and brass, and it holds its own next to more traditional pieces.
Set it beside a sofa or lounge chair to hold a lamp, a stack of books and a drink. It also works as a nightstand, a plant stand in an entry, or a spare surface between two chairs. The recessed top keeps a small dish or a glass from sliding around.
